Alcohol can have a profound effect on a person's functioning, but is it possible that, especially in party settings, people only "act" drunk or drunker to match other's expectations of being drunk?

I have seen this type of situation. You involved in the situation around you and tend to act more intoxicated than you may seem. Your surroundings would have an effect on you. Also I have known people who would drink a small amount, knowingly do stupid things, and then blame it on the fact that they were "drunk". I would think it would depend on the person... Some people act in certain ways because of expectations and others like in ways because they just drank WAY too much.

Yes of course it's possible that some do play up to what's expected of them....or what they think is expected anyway....for many though the mood dictates the influence of the effect of alcohol or even the individual mood of people can also affect the outcome......Atmosphere plays a large part as many can have a great time & get in the "party mood" without even touching a drop of the demon drink.......so if alcohol's flowing easily & being drunk of course then many will appear or act drunker than they actually are......

Yes, I believe so. Someone I know is good at doing this. You are able to pick up on some of these actions from the individuals and it really makes them look more negative than anything.
