Need to EXPEL large amounts of water to offset osmosis ,
Need to TAKE IN large amounts of water to offset osmosis ,
Slowly dehydrate over the course of their lives ,
Slowly swell up over the course of their lives?

I know that salt water fish drink lots of water and take salt across their gills osmotically, where as fresh water fish DO NOT DRINK! I would say that salt water fish take in large amounts of water to offset osmosis.
