I will start. During a discussion about immigration a girl said, "the United States sovereignty is but a mere illusion".

Ha! The policy implications of that would be astounding!

I don't know if it qualifies as a political discussion, but once back in the 1980's I had a cousin from Canada visit along with a friend of hers. We were all teens and I was very much into the study of politics and foreign events. I had to inform them both who their own prime minister (Brian Mulroney of the Conservatives) was.

If you don't get the picture, imagine going to Canada and having to be told by Canadians who the president was because you didn't know. Yes, we were teens, but what teen in America doesn't at least know who the president is?

I think the dumbest discussion I have ever been in was prior to the 2004 election when a person was trying to tell me that I should vote for Bush because he was a war time president. Hey he was the one that started the war for no reason and not to much later we were finding out it was started based on his lies.

I guess it was when some head of state claimed that some other nations belonged to an axis of evil.
I can't think of anything more stupid any politician said at the moment.

O remember one more now. When Anne Coulter (sp?) claimed that American activities in Afghanistan goes swimmingly.

"The website you got that off is biased because its owned by the Jews"

and

"Iraq is fine, it's just a few people stirring up trouble"

and

"If you're a traitor who opposes the war why don't you move out of America and not enjoy our freedom" - I don't live in America, and I've got plenty of freedom.
