I wonder whatever made you think they were. "Marks" are indicators of knowledge, on a subject studied & (sometimes) soon forgotten. They may help you to get a job, but your "knowledge" will show in your performance. As well as there are many kinds of "knowledge," & the most important is not learned in schools, but by experience & the DESIRE to be informed.

Without marks there is no objective test of knowledge. When you need to hire a person for a job, you cannot interview each and every person that applies and discover each person's level of knowledge. Marks are a good indicator of knowledge. Marks also indicate the ability to cope. If a person is too lazy and/or too much of a rebel to get good marks despite having knowledge the chances are that his knowledge will be of little help to others as he has not learned how to work with others.

Marks shouldn't be more important than knowledge. Grades count for nothing when you are faced with a life or death situation, at that point you need knowledge. I am not saying that it's ok to fail, you need to keep your grades up because that is what people see in this day and age.

Marks are not more important. They are an indicator of how much knowledge you have obtained and are able to use. If you get high marks but then forget the material, the marks will end up being of no use to you. It's like a fantastic season in sports. You get to demand a ridiculous salary, but if you fail to perform, a competent coach will find some way to get rid of you.

marks are important because the first thing a person asks you or your parent is your mark in the examinations than your knowledge.marks are also related to jobs at times.but remember that knowledge is more important cause it is your knowledge which comes with you and not your marks.

who said that marks are more important than knowledge.i dont go with this statement.knowledge is endless.knowledge is an ocean.we know only a drop of it.what we know and what we express in the exams is only a drop in the ocean.we only write the exams by studying the subject we like and gain marks.but gaining the whole knowledge is not a simple thing.we only know the things around us.if we go out of this we come 2 what is knowledge.

knowledge is measured in terms of mark by the society.ones knowledge is reflected in his marks.we cannot judge a person whether he is intelligent or not by speaking with him or asking some questions so some parameters are required for the society to identify knowledged person and it was fixed by the marks secured by the person.like isi and iso marks are the certificate for a person to tell whether he is knowledged or not in society.
