Have you ever known a person who cant feel pain? I know of a little kid like that, just met them, and I'm kinda concerned for their safety. This is a serious question, how do you help a person like that? Maybe one of you knows someone too.

Stay outta meth labs, people.

Yeah, doctors know about the kid, they've been diagnosed with all kinds of stuff. The condition(s) came from meth exposure. But I'm just concerned because ANYTHING could be happening to this poor kid and no one would really know. The kid is only 2.

yeah I've heard of that... There was an article in the paper about that once... It's bad.. The kid in the article's parents had had to buy there kid a pair of goggles (just average swimming kind) so that she wouldn't scratch her eyes out... or in any way damage her eyes... i think with a child like that the only thing to do is to keep a close eye on them all the time! There's only a number of people like that in world... You'd think it was sort of cool to not feel pain but when you really think about it, it's not so cool...

I don't know anybody with this disease. Thank God !
But can you just imagine what the poor thing can go
through ! I don't think this has anything to do with meth
labs. It is a rare neurological disease, and it was on
the Health Channel a while back.
Pray for the child and also pray for the parents that will need all the strength they can get.
God Bless !

actually I've heard that, and you just have to really teach them about fire, sharp objects, things like that, educate them so that they are aware, since they can easily be burnt by hot water,etc..My youngest son has something similar,he can feel pain, but when he does, its pretty bad. When he was 1 ,he could fall and wack his head on the corner of the coffee table,be bleeding and just get up and walk away like nothing happened, its very strange, but he does feel pain, just not as sensitive to it as most are.

i don't know anyone like that personally, but on bones the show that comes on fox there was a patient in the hospital like that and the only thing you can do to help a person like that is make sure they are under careful supervision at all time. because they don't feel pain if they think something is cool and it can harm them they may not know. and try to do things that they like. as long as it doesn't harm them

i have never met a person like that, but i could only imagine how dangerous it is to have a child like that. if you can't feel pain, you won't know what not to do in order to keep your well being, and not injure yourself. there's a reason why there is pain in this world, and it is to protect us from mortally wounding ourselves. i wish that family all the luck in the world.

well the parents just need to be very careful with the child because there is no cure for that. the child can be hurt really bad because they dont know what is dangerous and what isnt. for example getting burned, they wont feel that so the parents just need to be very careful with that and just other things. and what you might want to do is just try to do activitys with the child that dont involve alot of physical activity.

goodluck.

God, that is horrible, I don't know of anyone in real life like that, but I have heard of people like that. "House, MD" just had a show about that the other week. I will check back to see what other answers you get. I hope there are not too many people out there like that. I heard it is a rare disease. =)

You could try posting this question in a health related category and see if you get any medical help. I can see all kinds of problems this would cause a child.

get them to a doctor. there was a show on the discovery channel about a little girl (about 3 or 4) who couldn't feel pain. she ended up sticking her finger into her eyeball, rendering her blind in one eye. she now has to wear protective goggles and has to have supervision at all times

Yes, my nephew. He was born premature and as he got older, it was amazing the pain he could tolerate. I believe his pain nerves were not normal. He would do some dangerous things to himself, like stick his hand in fire. He had no fear and it was scary! He's 16 now and more careful.
