Just wondering on the average really!
Been trying for baby for 5 months with no joy, tried ovulation test kits for me, and yet nothing!

Does any one think that it is too early to go to the docts for some tests? regarding why i haven't fallen preg yet?

Chloe now its my turn to answer your Q after you answered mine! This whole babymaking business is certainly going to make me buy a white coat aswell as you LOL x Hubby keeps saying I dont want to talk about babies godamit! I am determined to avoid obsessing about this whole procedure...aaghg...right eye twitching...head jerking..!

I'm only on my 3rd try & it's started to get to me already so god help me if I get to my 5th like you and its still not happened so I empathise totally with you Chloe!

Anyway, to answer your Q, I stopped taking pill twice & fell immediately twice but this time I'm already wondering, as it happened like that before, why hasn't it again - what's wrong with me! How arrogant of me LOL

Would it be your first pregnancy?

Did your OPK work each cycle i.e. did you get a +? (I tried them on my last cycle for 1st time but didn't ever get a +)

If you get periods then you're OV so that's fine.

The answers and tips I got in my Q (next to your Q) were fabulous - have a look through them for some pointers.

R u in good health, exercising, eating and sleeping well and doing all the right babydancing? I am and in same position as you so that musnt be anything to do with getting preg LOL - well you gotta laugh or else you'll only cry or go crazy!

We can always blame the men - don't we always! But I'm not going there just yet.

As an aspiring author, I'm going to write another novel and get engrossed in it over the next few months as that is the only thing that makes me totally immersed. Maybe I will write something brilliant, who knows!

I believe in fate and think things are just meant to be - so I'm now saying to myself that I wasn't meant to be preg but next month I will be...or the next... or...!

The doctor told me to give up wine but red wine is supposed to be good for you so I'm discarding that advice!

Listen, I'll be going to see Doc if it doesn't happen next month so I would go if I were you - can't do any harm can it and you could get a check up and see that everything is in order - at least that would put your mind at rest.

Quite frankly, womens bodies are a complete mystery - as are women LOL

But stay happy, try to laugh at it (my way of dealing with "stuff") and keep positive and talk about "when" not "if" you have baby.

Also, check out twoweekwait.com for lots of inspiring stories of women who have been TTC. It certainly helped me stay +

As far as I'm concerned, the only + I want is the one on a stick that I wee on!!!!

Hugs to you and here's hoping we both get our babies next month xxx Keep smiling honey bun

most doctors wont do fertility tests until you have been trying to conceive for 18mths. 5 mths isnt long to be trying for a baby. Many couples who are healthy take 18mths to concieve. Make sure that your having sex at your most fertile time of the month, take folic acid daily, eat healthily and take regular exercise. Cut out alcohol and cigarettes. Being over or under weight can also reduce a womans chances of getting pregnant. If your in a position then you could contact a private fertility clinic about getting some basic tests carried out like blood tests and ultrasound scan for you and a semem analysis for your partner. good luck

If you are in the UK you will nearly always find that Doctors want you to try for a full year before they will refer you for tests and this is based on research suggesting that the average couple take upto 12 months to concieve. I know how frustrating it must be but honestly I doubt they'd do anything just yet. Goodluck and hope it happens for you soon x

Hi, I wouldn't panick! I took me and my husband 9 months to conceive. I was told that I wasn't ovulating after a series of blood tests and that I could go on special tablets in the new year being 8 months away so we stopped really thinking about and hey presto it happened! The key Ive gotten to hear about is not to put any pressure on yourself and it will happen.

You should see your OB/Gyn before starting to try to get pregnant for a pre-conception check-up. After that if you are under 35 and have regular cycles and have no reason to believe you may have a problem then wait 1 year. If you are over 35 or believe you may have a problem--like irregular cycles or history of PID, PCOS, endometirosis, fibroids, hubby had problems with testes etc, then 6 months--which you are approaching.

it takes the average woman between 4 and 12 months to conceive, so i wouldn't worry just yet, i don't think the doctors would do anything as 5 months isn't that long. after intercourse, try keeping you bum propped up with a pillow for about 20 mins, this helps the sperm get to where it want to go quicker, this worked for me, good luck.

No, it's not too early. My husband and I have been trying for a year since Valentine of 2005. It's never too late to ask for help. My girlfriend's doctor is helping her get pregnant, by giving her some pills to take.

it took hubby and i 6 months so next month could well be your lucky break. dont give up hope, i know its disheartening when you get your period or a neg but it will happen for you. i dont believe you need to see your doctor just yet. as you have used ovulation tests you should roughly know when you ovulate now, so i suggest keeping yourself busy at that time, have regular sex and you never know it might just happen. good luck i hope you get a pos soon xxxx

yes its too early hun, took me 2 years, my daughter wasnt using protection for 2 years due to problems with the pill she didnt think she could pregnant either, but shes now 6 months(shes over the moon btw)

just relax give it time it will happen

link i give to someone else too

count 7 days from the first day of your period then try, maybe your stressing too much just relax, get drunk as your fully relaxed and let nature take its course............good luck

Day 1 starts with the first day of your period.

Usually by Day 7, a woman's eggs start to prepare to be fertilized by sperm.

Between Day 7 and 11, the lining of the uterus (womb) starts to thicken, waiting for a fertilized egg to implant there.

Around Day 14 (in a 28-day cycle), hormones cause the egg that is most ripe to be released, a process called ovulation. The egg travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus. If a sperm unites with the egg here, the egg will attach to the lining of the uterus, and pregnancy occurs.

If the egg is not fertilized, it will break apart.

Around Day 25 when hormone levels drop, it will be shed from the body with the lining of the uterus as a menstrual period.
