I was watching Tyra, (ROFL, my sister watched, so i watched) and it talked about transexual children.. There was a girl named Julia who was in like, 6th grade, or something who was transexual.. Not really trans, she/he takes pills that prevents breasts from growing and periods. Is this normal? People say its where your born with a boy's mind or girls mind but born in the opposite sex. There was a few other people. A lez girl/guy, a boy->girl, and another girl->boy like Julia. Julia became Chris..

I dont understand.. How does this work..? People say its a choice to be trans, yes, i understand adults turning into the opposite sex, but children?..

Not making sence to me..

about 1 in every 3000 people are born transsexual. the actual cause it not known, however there is a certain kind of drug pregnant mothers used to take to prevent miscarriages that actually caused transsexualism. the condition is neurological. something happens in the brain development stage during the first 3 months of pregnancy that causes this to happen in the unborn fetus.

so people are born with their transsexualism.. due to society, it often takes people a while to realize they are transsexual. we are raised and told that we are all normal and we are all straight, etc.. so it can be a challenge for one to accept this about themself.

it took me 33 years to figure it out, although the signs have been there since i was 8 years old. i was always acting girly, always wanted to be friends with girls instead of boys.. when i became a teen, i seemed to admire women more than i was attracted to them. in my 20s i started crossdressing and it just felt right.

i never desired sexual intercourse. my masturbation fantacies were always about me being a woman.. when i finally got into my first romantic relationships (at 25) they just didn't feel right.. i thought i might have been gay, but i tried getting sexual with a guy and that didn't feel right either..

bottom line, all the research and all the facts out there point to me being transsexual. i have a long and crazy road ahead of me, but transitioning seems to be the only solution for me.. oh well, at least i have hope that i can one day feel comfortable being my true self and feel comfortable finding love, romance, and sex.

Adult trans people start out child trans people. This is not one of those things where you wake up one day to find you don't feel like your gender anymore. These people's minds are built know its the opposite sex from its body. Transexuals usually think they ARE the opposite sex until someone tells them the difference and then they KNOW they are meant to be the other. It is not a choice it is basic human biology. They did studies on rats and found the portion of the brain that is gender identity, and these people's look like the opposite sex. It may seem foreign to us, but that doesn't mean it isnt real.

Being trans is not a choice, that is where most of your confusion lies I think. People who are trans are unable to be happy with their bodies and social role, no matter what type of therapy, even electroshock therapy, used on them to get them to accept how they are. The only way that they achieve happiness that you take for granted is by transitioning to the other sex.

Some people are more obvious about their discomfort and inability to be comfortable with how they are than others, and those who are bad at pretending to act as the gender they were born as sometimes can go to therapy by loving parents who are told that their child is transgendered. The parents who love their children will help their children be happy no matter what, and the ones who don't love their children will force them to be a person according to their genitals, not their mind, and usually ends up in drug abuse and suicide.

Basically the person's internal gender identity, their sense of who they are does not match up with their body. Gender identity is formed in the brain while it's developing before birth. The reason that you've known about people later in life switching sides and not children is because children were raised to act however matched their body and not how they identified. They were forced to be someone they're not until either they either filled the void with self-destructive behaviors until they die, kill themselves outright, or finally be true to themselves. Fortunately people are becoming more educated and understanding and people that are very young are getting the chance to be true to themselves at a younger age. 51% of the trans community surveyed a while back admitted to attempting suicide by age 18, and that's of the ones that didn't succeed at it. I really wish my parents would have let me transition at 12 when I realized that I didn't identify as male.

When a baby is born with two sets of genitals or 'obscure sexuality', the doctors usually take a best guess and perform surgery so the child has one sex. This is to 'prevent suffering brought about by sexual confusion'. They don't always call it right which causes the maturing person to suffer a sex role they don't fit into. Plus, they suffer from having extreme surgery at a young age. It's not like they just decided one day, out of the blue, that they shouldn't be the sex they are. If the child did not go through that kind of surgery as a baby and felt they weren't the right sex, I would let him/her dress and live as the other sex but he/she would have to wait until 18 years before having any kind of surgery.

I'll go ask my 16 y/o son. Obviously he was conceived long before I started Hormone Replacement Therapy when I was still attempting to live as a male and doing what was expected of me. For those that may cast there moral judgements on what I have done to my son mentaly you should know he chooses to live with me full time and has said I'm much easier to live with now. I also made sure he had a therapist to talk to as well before I came out to him. He has also talked to mine about any concerns or questions. We have the normal Parent / Child conflicts. He has told me he wants to go to with me later this year when I go for my surgery. No matter what happens in life I will always be his Father and love him with all my heart.

Children can be transexual too. Actually for most of them thats when it starts. To me yes, it does seem strange for the parents to put their kids on pills and surgieres at that age but its their choice.
