The modem and router don't communicate, so i can't continue with the installation process. The firewall is off, and i don't know if the problem is because I have optimum online or its the router.

Check if your modem actually has a built-in router. If it has then there is probably a conflict of internal default IP addresses because both will be using "192.168.1.1" and you will have to change one of them to another IP address.

Did you follow the step by step instructions when installing the router? (unplug here, plug there again and again) I installed my wireless G with optimum online 1st try without problems so I wouldn't think its your ISP.

Have you read the installation procedures and followed them?

Have you called the technical support folks?
