I want to speculate, but I reckon the end will be amazing and I don't want to ruin it by guessing correctly!!!

Well everything implies that he is in a coma in 2006/7 and has gone back in time.
I think that he will wake up and some of his 1970's mates will be round his bed in the hospital.
Or he will get killed in 1973 & wake up in 1983 and go through similar adventures.

the planet will get turned into a ball of red dust and theyll emigrate to earth...
and i think sam will get booted to another "adventure" like the time tunnel guys... and always be trying to get back home...
great show, and i already lived thru 1973-4, that was the year i left school...

properly Marty i reckon Sam is a time customer.he's been despatched back from the destiny to apply his hi-tech understand-how & sparkling up crimes.Crimes that circuitously could substitute history or impact the destiny.i think of he dies attempting to come back to his own time-zone - while his time is composed of accomplish that. there's a derivative coming after this sequence.that's referred to as Ashes to ashes & that's set interior the early '80s.that's meant to have Hunt & Annie as CID detectives.yet no Sam.John Simm says he won't be doing any further.
