It is necessary but tell me this. We have to learn spainish or any other language, why do we have to learn it i mean if hispanics or any other race people are coming over from their country then they should learn english first. Especially illegal immigrants they shouln't have came over if they did not know english. Im not trying sound like a redneck but i already know hindi and english, why force me to learn another language to pass high school. America is a country that speaks english and if people want to come over here they should learn english instead of sticking to their own language. I think this president wants to punish the people that they do not like his ideas.
Do u guys agree, i mean us high school students have such heavy work from math and science and all other subjects trying to make our future why should we HAVE to learn language, why can't they just make it an option. People we have so much work from other subje

I will tell you a story that was told to me by my polish language prof. Polish is the the 4th language i learn, after english french and german. my mother tounge is greek.
---
The is a table left over after a banquet at someones house.. it is strewn with all sorts of left over goodies. At the corner of a room, inside a hole in the wall there is a little mouse who is really made hungry by all the smells. Now, the little mouse knows that there is a cat in the house (oh a rhyme.. hihi) so he is unsure of wether to go out or not. Suddently he hears a very clear BARK. The little mouse reasons that if there is a dog in the house, then there is no cat. so he leaves his hole scuttles to the table climbs up and is immedeately caught and eaten by the cat. The burps and with a content smile on her face says: its good to know foreign languages.

Don't worry, you won't learn another language in high school. Your teacher probably doesn't speak whateveritis herself.

Gawd I once substituted into a French 4 class in an unnamed town and found I had to teach those six girls what the imparfait was -- this was presumably their fourth year with the language.

They were actually interested though I don't suppose they ever learned French.

I also subbed into a classroom filled with sarapes and a fascist flag. No one knew what I was saying, so I eventually gave it up and filled the rest of the afternoon with Mafalda cartoons, which they enjoyed.

Learning a foreign language helps to broaden your cultural horizons. No one is making you learn Spanish in order to speak with immigrants or tourists. One could argue why do you have to take English class in high school. If all you want to do is become an accountant who cares if you have ever read Hamlet? The educational requirements of high school are not and should not simply be functional. They are put in place so that all students have a broad well rounded education that will allow them to determine what they want to do in the future and be better citizens of the nation and the world.
