Will region 1 DVDs work on a British desktop?

I did something stupid by buying a DVD off Ebay without confirming its region code first.

Probably not unless its a region free dvd player but go ahead and try it, there is nothing to lose.

if it doesn't you can get rid of region codes buy using Anydvd and cloneDVD and burning a new copy...although this is ILLEGAL

it may or may not work. download dvdregionfree and you can play dvds from anywhere.
