it is according to the cops personality--most cops today do not believe that they are thre to help people --this is a forgotten thing in police work-I mam not saying all police officers are the same--but an awful lot of them have a cocky attitude and think they are better then you are==maybe its the training now days--there are also many officers that are not polite at all they have a very nasty attitide--perhaps they should receive training in human relations. I am an x police officer and I see this myself -I hate to say some of these things but I always tried to help people ==

They're given the appropriate amount of power necessary to do the jobs they are required to do. What good would any cop be if they walked around wimpy and friendly...they're already out-gunned by the criminals, you want them to act like Wal-Mart greeters too? More cops have been killed or injured in seemingly benign disputes like "domestics" and traffic stops, than in all out violent confrontations....would YOU let your guard down?

There are many good ones but there are just as many bad cops and they literally get away with murder. My ex husband was shot and killed in his home through a window by police while he was arguing with his sister on the phone. The judge said it was "the word of these fine officers vs a dead man" and no charges were ever filed. witnesses left there home for 2 months because they were in fear of the police.

it somewhat is stated as social contract thought and the belief in the back of it somewhat is which you provide up some rights to the government for the sake of social order. The law enforcement officers get to tell you what to do now and then yet in return the save you from getting robbed or murdered the different 364 days of the year. this is the start democratic governments and replaced into conceived by potential of the Englishmen Thomas Hobbs and John Locke.

Cops do have a bit too much power, I agree. This freedom, given to undeserving ignorant men, only bloats their egos and brings about their god complexes..

I think a person who has nothing to hide doesn't fear the police. I think without a police force, well trained, with full law-enforcement powers, the thugs would be in control.
Mature adults don't fear law enforcement....only borderline thugs and insecure adolescents do.

The badge is nothing but a license to STEAL (and lie too--especially if "drugs" are alleged)
``God bless America?'' What the phuque? Does anybody ACTUALLY believe the Almighty would bless an evil and UNHOLY union of quasi-totalitarian POLICE STATES?
