You can view them as left overs, because technically yes that is what they are. Yet, you can also look at yourself as the lucky one in the end of it all. Getting "there" first is not always best, for instance in love... Rushing into things is what leads to much unhappiness... being patient and waiting for something right to happen will usually be more rewardable in the end. Love is kind... Love is Patient... and so on... I have never once heard love described as First in Line... or Love is Rushed....

The "good things" in the quote are not "things". But things; automobiles, electronics, and new inventions become better and cheaper after they have been on the market for a while. Do you consider your cell phone a "left-over"? The first non land-line phone was a "car phone" and the electronics for it had to be mounted in the trunk. It also required an operator to connect your calls and the monthly fee was more than $500.00.

No. Think of clothes, for example.
A new jacket comes out. It's absolutely gorgeous, and people rush in and spend all their money buying it. But you wait, because you haven't got enough money this week, so you'll get it next week.
So, next week, you go to get that new jacket, and you find out that there was a manufacturing error in the previous lot, so they've got a new lot in with better buttons and better quality, and it's cheaper!! Yay for waiting!
I know that's a pretty lame example, but at least I'm being optimistic!!!

First, that quote has as many holes in it as Swiss cheese. It sort of falls into the category of "Turn the other cheek," "The meek shall inherit the earth," (who wants it?) & "If thy right eyes offends thee, pluck it out." Hey! It's the 21st century. You can wait until the cows come home, & "good things" aren't going to come knocking on your door. The whole premise is absurd.

Bad things can come also. We make our own good things by grabbing life by the horns and living our dreams. Maybe if we are successful we can leave some leftovers.....

That's a pessimistic point of view. I thing great things come to great people who deserve them the other have to try in order to get what they want. Sometimes life is unfair but that's not state because you can change it if you want.

Yes. If you want something you have to go out of your way to get it yourself.
