This is obviously all opinion but just straight heavy metal I would go with Dio or Iron Maiden. Something more modern that is good is Children of Bodom. However I am more into brutal death metal these days.

Led Zeppelin. you cant top their music. They were the original heavy metal, if thats what you consider them, but they go across a lot of genres so I'm not sure if thats the type of band you are looking for.

Hmmm....I would say Metallica, but I know there are some who would say they aren't "Heavy" enough. Groups like Slipknot, NIN, and others would probably win.
