He is with a 3 inch firemouth which has very recently gotten very aggresive. So I was wondering if its safe to put him in a 30 gal with a few tetras. Until I can go and get another tank in about a week . He is about 2 1/2 inches long a seems to be nice until it comes to food.

Compatibility of Leleupi: Lake Tanganykan similar size African Cichlids and African Catfish.

Technically you can fit a orange leleupi and a firemouth, but I don't know what the leleupi will think of the tetras as I've never attempted it myself. IMO it's not such a great idea though.

no it is not safe to put any cichlid into a community tank they will end up killing the other fish if you wnat africans then i suggest taht you turn the entire tank over or start a new one the plus to this is you have a lot more choices of color and activity they also seem a little more hardy

Not a good idea at all. I would recommend adding a few more hiding places for the leleupi.
