Yes, they are a good brand. Toyota and Honda make the highest-rated SUVs at present, according to Consurmer Guide.

I love Mazda. I own a 2001 Mazda Millenia and I have no problems with it. Brought it used last year and it had only 50,000 miles on it. I also like how it pick up speed when I need it to. As far as SUV, I would do a side by side comparison with each truck you are interested in. I have a friend that bought a Kia Amanti last year new off the showroom floor and she is already having problems with it. But I think you might want to look at which company makes which car.
GM makes
GMC
Chevy
Cadillac
Saturn
Hummer
Buick
Pontiac
Saab
Holden
Opel
Vauxhall
Ford makes
Ford
Lincoln
Mercury
Mazda
Volvo
Jaguar
Land Rover
Aston Martin
Toyota makes
Toyota
Lexus
Hino
Daihatsu
Daimler Chrysler makes
Chrysler's
Dodge
Jeep
Mopar
Hopes this helps.

Madzas are very good cars. Theyre Japanese produced so theyre of a higher quality than Domestic makes, they also wear better and dont depreciate as fast. Im sorry to all you land rover fans out there but land rovers and range rovers are too over-rated. People just seem to think that a higher price tag comes a better car.. Also Ford doesnt make mazdas anymore, they used to but they only have a 26% controlling interest in mazda production now and thats with the B-series trucks. Mazda makes a very good utility vehicle the CX-7's and CX-9's are wonderfull and will give you the best ride and comfort for your money.

Mazda is largely owned by Ford. While some hold that against them, Mazda products (and Mazda-built Fords) seem to hold up pretty well. I had a Ford Probe (based on the Mazda 626) that I sold - still running quite well - with over 200,000 miles on it. Miatas and Proteges also have a reputation for holding up very well. The only ones with a reputation for trouble have been the turbo RX-7s.
Mazda's Navajo and pickup have been Ford based; the other trucks and SUVs are fundementally Mazda based.

I have owned 4 mazdas, 1 land rover, 1 range rover, 1 ford. I loved my mazdas the most. They were the MOST dependable - the MOST affordable - the MOST fun to drive - and DUH the most economical (fuel efficiency wise). A service department at any other dealer is very expensive. Unless you have oodles of cash to waste - I would strongly suggest a Mazda. They also hold their value better than any other brand besides Honda. Do some research yourself! Landrovers and Mercedes lose their value VERY quickly. My little brother just bought an 06 bmw for 23k, my car - an 06 Mazda 6 is still valued at 16 - when i bought it for 18!

Mazda is not a luxury car brand. Mazda is a economical car brand which is on the same level with Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, KIA, Ford, Volkswagen. Luxury car brands would be like Lexus, Infiniti, Accura, BMW, Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes. I think Lexus, Infiniti, and Accura. These three car brands are not very costly to maintain compared to the other luxury car brands (especially Lexus). Lexus has the least problem among all of the luxury car brand and very reliable. My sister-in-law is a Lexus owner, she bought that car 7 years ago, and her car still works well without much problems occurred. And I agree with "AUDI RS4 RULES!!!" answer regarding Infiniti and Accura. Mercedes and BMW are more likely to have problems. Mercedes cars sometimes have problems within the mechanics and the fuel. While BMW cars sometimes have electrical and glitches problems.

Mazda has some great, sporty crossover SUVs, like the CX-7 & CX-9, however, the pure SUV called Tribute is basically a throwback version of Ford's Escape.
If you want a perfect urban SUV, GMC's Envoy and Yukon/Yukon XL w/Denali package is very good.
For good off-road rugged SUV's, Jeep has many great off-road ready models, like the Wrangler.
However, if a balance of off-road capabilities, urban style, and luxury, Hummer has the H3x sport utility that can do all, except save fuel.
Fuel savers, I pick Kia's Sportage as it can get up to 28mpg on the highway.
Whatever your taste, these may satisfy those things you want out of a SUV.

Mazda is a good brand if you like complicated problems and like spending double what you would with a domestic brand to get them fixed. Also the parts have to be special ordered and usually cost much more. The best brand of SUV would probably be a Chevy blazer or GMC jimmy, they are simple, reliable, easy to find parts for and have many interchangable parts with their truck counter-part, and they are affordable.

Yes they are. Between my brother and I we have owend 5 Mazdas. My last one, a 1985 - 323, I donated to Volunteers of America this past year after putting almost 300,000 miles on it. The engine was still good, it was just too small for our family.
Good luck.
