There have been brands of baby laundry soap on the market for many many many years now ( Dreft, Baby All, and others) that are safe for babys laundry. If they still have rashes or an allergic reaction then you need to speak with the pediatrician to see what they recommend. You will ruin your washer putting shampoos and dishsoaps in it !!!!!!

My baby is nine months old. I asked the same question to our pediatrician nine months ago. He said the baby detergents are a waste of money. Just because the word "baby" is on the product, they charge more for it. He suggested using All Free or a similar product. We also use a little Oxy Clean for the stains. It works great! We also set the washer for a second rinse. Our baby has not had any problems with our washing method. Talk to your pediatrician. They are there to help you! Have a lovely day!

Start out with baby detergent, like Dreft. After a while, you can tell if your baby has sensitive skin. If not, switch back to what you are familiar with. I hear ALL is the mildest. I use Tide Coldwater and my 3 month old has had no reaction.

i use regular old tide. What is the point of using expensive 'baby' detergents if your clothes are washed in the cheap stuff. If you hod your baby and there is no reaction with your clothes, just use what you use. Now if you are talking about stains, Totally Toddler is awesome, but I have started using Nature's Miracle. It is for pet stains, but b/c they intend it for organic stains (foods and poops) It works great on baby stains also. Even the sweet potatoes are no match for it.

I always used "baby detergent" like Dreft. It is a bit pricey though. I think many people use regular detergent because of the price of baby detergent. If you go this route, try to get something with no added perfume, dyes, etc.

I used our regular washing detergent - but I also added a cup of "Totally Toddler Nursery Stain & Odor Remover & Prewash".
It is the only product that will remove the spit up stains and odor from babys clothes.
Not even bleach removed the brown spit up stains - I also bought the Totally Toddler Spray bottle to treat stains directly before washing them.

Use cold water and a mild detergent like All free and clear or Dreft. Avoid fabric softener as this will lessen any fire resistance the clothes have.

I use ALL with no dyes in it. The white bottle or you can use Dreft or Ivory Snow also. Just in case I would not use anything with perfume in it til they were over a yr old.. baby skin can be rather sensitive. Good luck.
