Is she really single, in a gay relationship, in a long term relationship, or maybe she does not want to be bothered with relationship right now.

There are several possibilities...
1. She doesn't want to be bothered so a wedding band will often keep the men away.
2. Some women use it to draw men to them, like a man who's looking for some fun and not something long-term.
But if you know for sure that she's single...why not ask her why she's sporting a band on the left hand?

She could be a widow, but generally when single women wear a wedding ring it means they don't feel like being hassled by men.

To keep the wolves at bay or she could be a widow who feels this is her connection to her late spouse. And some women just feel comfortable wearing a ring on that finger. I did for many years before I got married. I didn't feel comfortable wearing them on my right hand. I can't work with rings on my right hand either, but can with them on my left. So I wear a diamond (not engagement ring I purchased it myself.) on my left ring finger.
