Sedona's hot spots are "crowded" on the Y where the shops are, within the city and at Slide Rock - the crowds usually die down at night and you might find it difficult to find someone late at night. Because there are so many resorts people generally come out during the day to shop, visit new-age shops, and go to places like Slide Rock, at night you usually hang out at the resorts.

Yes, without question. I might change your word to "busy" as opposed to "crowded." It's not like you will run into shoulder-to-shoulder jams of people...but I would certainly suggest that you book any accommodations well ahead of time (as in now).
Camping near Sedona is most popular in the summer months...but springtime in general is a very popular time for tourists throughout Arizona.

It is always crowded in Sedona. Especially in Winter and Spring, even more so on weekends.

No not really...I was there two years ago, April 12-16. It didn't seem crowded to me.
