8.5. pretty good team. offense has power and speed. good power pitchers. only thing i would do is add another closer or 2 because fuentes is good but rockies arent and he might not get 35+ saves. valverde might, but i would add a guy like saito or chris ray to your squad.

I feel like I'm reading "A Tale of Two Cities." It was the best of times (outfield and SP), it was the worst of times (infield and RP).

I can tell you drafted 12th (maybe 11th) and I think you did a great job with your first three picks. Your fourth pick was either Z or Oswalt, both great players, but you are reaching when you take two pitchers that early. Now for my trademark analysis:

By position:

C - Very good - probably won't get the RBIs he had last year, but underrated.
1 - third tier, just OK
2 - good, but might be a shade overrated.
3 - Zim is good, but he has little supporting cast (Lopez is good and Kearns is questionable).
SS - inconsistent
OF - LOVE them, great balance of power and speed and I think Rios will be even better this year.
U - while Kinsler is an adequate 2B, he should NOT be your Utility player (Tracy might not be bad). Look for other sleepers on the wire (see Chris Duncan - StL OF).

SP - Excellent, but it cost you in other areas
RP - volume approach to saves will cost you in ERA and Whip (see if Tankersley was missed in your draft).

By Category (in standard Y! H2H):

HR - Fielder and Vlad are not enought to get it done - rarely win (Tracy could help, but still you might not be solid)
RBI - I think you're moderate here - win 50%
Run - OK, win 25%
SB - Decent with Crawford and other minor contributors, win 70%
AVG - Good, win most of the time.

W - You should handle this cat, but add another SP for insurance (consider Maine - NYM - I doubt he was drafted)
S - Your volume approach might win this regularly, but cost you ERA and Whip.
Ks - You have 5 strong strikeout pitchers, your strength
ERA - Very good if RPs don't hurt too much
Whip - see ERA

All in all, you look good, but a few minor fixes could make you a contender

If this is a standard 12-team league..I give it a 6 out of 10. We'll start with the positives:
You probably have the best starting pitching in the league with 4 staff aces in Oswalt, Big Z, C.C., and Kazmir.
Your outfield is incredible with 3 guys that all hit well and all have potential to get at least 20 SB's.
A hard position to fill sometimes, 2B, you have 2 good options

Now time for negatives:
Your relief pitching SUCKS. I like Fuentes as a pitcher but he plays in hitter-friendly Coors and has the possibility of getting roughed up multiple times. Valverde I like but he may not get many save oppurtunities right away because the D'Backs young lineup will take some time to get hot. I recommend trading either Rios or Duffy to someone in your league who wants/needs SB's and try and get a reliever like Tom Gordon, Takashi Saito, guys like that who are decent but won't be too much of a price to pay for. Also, Dempster has the oppurtunity to have his best year ever with the strong Cubs' lineup, but as soon as he struggles, drop him.
I think you definately need an upgrade at shortstop. While Renteria can swipe some bases and occasionly hits for a good average, he is as big as a hit-or-miss player you'll ever find at shortstop. Either this guy does phenominal or he slumps.

So I think you need to upgrade your reilef pitching and a possible upgrade at shortstop. Try trading either Duffy or Rios for a RP/SS otherwise there is no use for keeping Duffy if you aren't going to play a guy like that who you only keep for one stat. I recommend if you aren't going to trade Duffy, put him at utility until Kinsler heats up that way you know you are getting something out of the UTIL position.

6/10...possible playoff contender with your outstanding starting position.

7/10

offense: very little power, ian kinsler should never be your utility hitter, he barely qualifies as a backup 2b.

pitching: solid, you have three good aces, and your relief core is decent, but you can always find more saves during the season. i think your mistake was drafting starters, like zambrano and oswalt, way too early. personally i never draft a top pitcher till about the 4th round. since all the top offensive players disappear in the first 3 rounds.

options: trade on of your big pitchers for a big bat.

Well it really depends on what stats you are going with in your league. I would say this is a middle tier team. Not a championship team. Out of 10 teams that are actively participating all season this team would finish between 4th and 6th. Good luck and hope the other managers in your league are lazy so you can win it all!!

If this is a 12 team league a 7. If its a 10 team about a 5.5... if its 14 team then a 8.5. If its more than 14 then 9.5!

how the **** did you snag crawford and guerrero, your sp are really good. i would suggest trading sabathia and fuentes for a top of the line rp. kinsler has potential but until he shows it put duffy in for him. you have a really good team 8.5
