Make sure your doc knows in advance of using it but OTC yeast infection treatments (Monistat or store brand) (doctors will recommend you use the 7 day kind vs. the 1 or 3 day, the 7 are milder and therefore "safer" for use during pregnancy). Only self-treat if you are SURE it is a yeast infection.

U can use any over the counter yeast infection cream/ointment during pregnancy to insert into the vagina *pills by mouth are not recommended*...So monistat or any other doctor recommended non prescription is ok. If u are unsure when going to the store take the med u have chosen to the pharmacy and ask them,u dont need a prescription from your ob for a yeast infection. On the other hand,it may be something other than a yeast infection such as bv or a sti *infection* and then u need a prescription from your doctor,if it is indeed an infection other than yi u need to seek treatment as soon as possible as it can cause problems for u in the pregnancy. Otherwise over the counter is safe and effetive..

After u get treated make sure u wear only cotton panties that are not too tight, eat lots of yogurt *this helps prevent yeast infections* and no douches, sprays or lotions down there...good luck!

I was at a routine checkup at nine weeks and my doctor saw the beginnings of a yeast infection. He gave me a prescription for a one-day capsule to be vaginally inserted. If you're not going to the doctor any time soon, you may want to go to the drug store and ask the pharmacist what is a safe brand to use and for how many days (some are the 1, 3, or 7 day treatments). I would also drink cranberry juice and eat yogurt to help out with that. I try to eat yogurt a few times a week to avoid them.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

I am 38 weeks pregnant, and have been living the last nine months with yeast infections off and on the whole time. I checked with both my doctor and pharmacist and the both suggested an over the counter. They both suggested Canesten, not the pill, but the cream kind, and not to go over 3 days of use. Also you can use the external anti-itch cream to relieve some of the irritation. Anyways, good luck, I know its uncommfortable but it will get better!!

If you are sure it is a yeast infection (you've had one before) you can use otc yeast creams. If unsure check w/ your doc first.
