The Southeastern Conference. Just in the East alone you have Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky. In the West you have Alabama and Ole Miss making a run at it. I think it's no coincidence that three of Florida's 5 losses have occured in the SEC, two against teams who right now are as hot as any team in the nation (Vanderbilt, Tennessee). If Kentucky didn't have the 2nd toughest non-conference schedule (Their overrall SOS is 1, non-conference is 2) in the nation this year, they would also be ranked along with Vandy and Tennessee.
Here's just some numbers:
The SEC against non-conference, Division 1 opponents this season is 127-38.
They are 2nd in RPI, 2nd in Strength of Schedule (SOS), and 1st in Average Non-Conference RPI. (The ACC is 1st in RPI, but is 7th in SOS and 2nd in Average Non-Conference RPI).
3 of Florida's 5 losses have come in the SEC, 5 of Tennessee's 9 losses have come in the SEC, 6 of Vandy's 10 losses have come in the SEC. 6 of Kentucky's 9 losses have come in the SEC. A coincidence I think not.
Until yesterday there was a 5 way tie for 1st place in the SEC West. There was a 3 way tie for 2nd-4th in the SEC East until yesterday. That's the definition of parody from top to bottom.
A #2 average non-conference rating as well as #2 RPI overrall shows that the SEC plays tough basketball from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. They don't fill up their non-conference schedules with teams to pad their schedule. Kentucky played UCLA, Memphis, North Carolina, and Louisville in the non-conference. Florida played Ohio State and Kansas. Tennessee played Butler, North Carolina, Texas and Memphis. Yet somehow these teams have still managed to pull together respectable schedules and potential tournament bids.
Undoubtedly from bottom to top the SEC is the best conference in the nation.

You have to look at the ACC. Year in and year out they consistently have 7 or 8 teams going the the tournament. The other team is the Big East. They usually have 6 or 7 teams in the Big Dance, but I give the nod to the ACC because they are so talented at the top whereas the Big East doesn't have any powerhouses. And to whoever seriously said the MVC, you need to watch some basketball. The only reason they win in the tourney is because nobody expects them to actually play the game. We will all forget the MVC in a couple of years.

I am a big east fan but I have to tell you that it is still a ACC vs Big East rival all the way. It will get even better next season. I dont think Ohio State or Texas will go tot he Final Four. They haev their respected playersbut I feel it is too much hype for them. I do not see another Carmelo Anthony like he did in Syracuse.
Respectively should be ACC. Tough rival games and too uch of a harder schedule comparing to the Big Ten.

Top to bottom......SEC. The SEC east is knocking each other off the totem pole every week. Just look at RPI rankings and you will see that the SEC is best top to bottom. Fla, Ken, Vandy, Tenn, Georgia, Bama, Miss St., Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, they knock each other off week in and week out plus check the match ups with other top conferences throughout the year and SEC has better records against those conferences.

Missouri Valley. look in the bottom corner to see men's basketball records.
the reason mainly why records are so low is becasue they all beat up on each other. they are all good teams who kill each other in conference play causing bad records.
the big 10, acc, pac 10, and Big 12 and East. all have 1 or 2 elite teams beating up on worse teams. now in this conference they all are equal.

The Big East. Power from the top to at least number 9. Typical year in year out situation. The tourney will sort it out and do not be surprised if there are 3 big east teams in the finals again.
