I'm for globalization or free trade in other words. US consumers are able to purchase products at the lowest possible price as nations around the world are competing for the US dollar. This keeps inflation low. The downside is lost jobs in those industries who are unable to compete with imports. Fortunately most of our displaced workers have been able to find other jobs. Sadly those jobs too often pay less than the worker was making.

If we throw up trade barriers(tariffs) on imports other nations will retaliate against our exports. This will result in lost US jobs and higher prices for most goods and services.

The genie is out of the bottle on globalization. There's no turning back. Any politician who says otherwise is using fear tactics to get votes.

The future is always uncertain. There's reason to think & hope it will be good for most of the world in the long run --and of course it's good for a lot of people right now-- but it is also true, without any doubt, that it is causing harm in some places, as any great change does.
