I am told that I am good with putting paint colours together and should get into decorating. I live in ontario canada. Any suggestions on the best ways to go about this?

I live in the US, but I would go on line to the Occupational Outlook Handbook. It gives vital info. such as approximate pay, education needed and if the market for decorators is good. Perhaps Canada has a similar source.

Many people just get started through their friends. One woman I know has been successful helping to decorate homes to make them more sales-ready - she works through realtors. Some people start out selling furniture.

Another way would be to attend some interior design classes and earn a certificate.

I would talk to some local designers to see if they need an apprentice or assistant. There is a lot more to design than paint.

If you own your own, I'd guess around $60 - $80 pmh and up.

Pmh = per man hour.
It may be a little less, it could be a lot more, either way it's good money.
