Best Ever? or Best this Year? Best ever, no.. that hasta be the Yankees or Cardinals, since they have the most Titles. Best this year? who knows, season hasnt begun, they have strengths and weaknesses... i like their Starting Pitching with Matsuzaka, Schilling, Beckett, and WakeField..i dont mention Papelbon in their starters because i think they have one of the worst bullpens in ALL of baseball, maybe the worst in the AL, and i think before long they will ship Papelbon back to closer because of how bad his replacements are goign to be.. That said.. they have a good team... but if i had to pick a team as best this year, it would be Detroit or the Yankees.
OH! and whoever at the top said Ortiz and Manny are best duo ever ... just stoppit... Ruth and Gherig averaged 45hr 150rbi and 330avg EACH for a 8 year span... and both had MULTIPLE years where they hit 45plus hrs and had 160 plus rbi LMAO. Just SIck Sick numbers!... argument on best duo ever ended right there.

Nope - the bullpen is weak. And after Manny and Big Papi (and maybe Mike Lowell), the offense is less than average. A breakfast cereal plays center field, they've killed every SS career, 2B has no power at all, Youk is on the border of striking out almost as many times as he hits. JD Drew will be good for part of the 120 games he will play, but which ones. As an Angel fan who has seen some of the Boston bullpen play for years, Joel Pinata - and that is not a typo, he usually gets tied up and hit around by blindfolded children with sticks until he gives up the candy. Donnelly, great guy, but he is not a closer - the second he thinks he is a closer his motion becomes more violent and less controllable and he throws the ball right down the middle. JC Romero - When he comes into a game, if they aren't his runners on base you might as well just let them walk in. But if they get on base off him he suddenly becomes difficult to hit. I'm not saying he did it on purpose but he did give up 57 hits in 48 innings. And won 7 games in Minn after entering the game with a lead....
Boston will have a difficult time keeping up with Toronto, so I wouldn't worry about the Yankees just yet.

No. The Red Sox are not the best team.
Dicey-K will not made them automatic champions.
And even if they won the championship
they still would not know how to ACT like champions.
You want to act like a champion?
Take the lead from The White Sox.
They know how to win!!!

Obviously being a Sox fan, I'm biased, but this year I feel they have as good of a shot as anyone else.
1. There line up is ferocious. They'll be in the top 2-3 in runs scored this year.
2. Their starting pitching is tremendous. Schilling, Dice, Papelbon, Becket, and Wakefield? Tough to top 1-5 on any other team.
3. I like their bullpen depth. I really like the Brendon Donnely pick up. He's totally flying under the radar, but he'll be stud when it matters.
4. No closer...but a quick trade to get Chad Cordero will take care of that.
Of course, there's always the store-bought Yankees to deal with, but I don't think their as strong this year. Matsui hasn't hit in the clutch since 2003, A-Rod blows, Giambi's human growth hormone infested body has been breaking down for years, Mariano is disgruntled, Posada knows that he'll be getting the "Bernie" treatment soon, they have no #4 or 5 starter, and relying on Proctor and Farnsworth is an absolute kiss of death.

Afeter reading some answers on here, I have to laugh! There are alot of fans. This question is vague but I will anser tot he best of my ability.
Rwed Sox are a good tam and can be contenders this year. Are they the best team--NO! I am a Red-Sox fan all the way but I fell as though the Red Sox need improvement in the bullpen. We have the offense and starting pitching but no support in the PEN. I beliebve the best teams for the 2007 will go like this...
AL EAST-Toronto, Central-Minnesota, West-Oakland A's
NL East-Atlanta, Central-Chicago, West-LA Dodgers.
Anything can happen in baseball. Ther is simply to many games played.
The greatest team of all time shoudl be Yankees with all World Series appearances and wins.
GO RED SOX

Have never been, won't be this year, will never be the best team. The lovable 2nd place finishers: Boston Red Sox. (Now I should mention 3rd place, because that's where they finished this year, and that's where their headed if Dice - K can't even pitch to college kids).

far from it. if they start papelbon, their pen needs help. if they have him close, thheir rotation needs help.
yeah, they got papi and manny, but they also are starting dustin pedroia. if they do make the playoffs, hell prolly selt the record for lowest BA on a team that makes the playoffs with over 150 starts. or something like that.
they cant compete with other AL teams. let alone NL.
as for my pick.... i personally think the mets or the tigers are the best team, which is what i see in the world series. and the mets'll take it.

No and im a red sox fan. first of all idont think this whole matsuzaka thing is gonna work i mean he gave up a double on the first pitch to a college player. and i dont think papelbon is gonna succeed as a starter he is way too delicate. their bullpen is going to be horrible, come on joel pinero j.c romereo manny delcarmen craig hansen ect they all suck. and thne their feilding is horrible too. julio lugo is a horrible feilder and so is dustin pedroia and in the outfirlkd with jd and coco. jd always gets hurt and coco doenst have the best arm in the world .
