My daughter and her friends caught a garden snake and a curios about what to feed it. I once owned a corn snake but I don't think that will be very helpful in this case.

You could also feed them earthworms and especially tadpoles. We had ones that really thrived on tadpoles.

Its a common mistake but they are actually called Garter Snakes. They will eat worms, snails, small insects, small invertebrates, and things of that nature. And just so you know, Garter snakes aren't constrictors, they bite and swallow their prey without constricting. Make sure the snake has a shallow water bucket for it to go in and a basking lamp would also be good.

I live far out in the country and I'm sure there is plenty outside but on top of them I have 5 inside! My snakes love to eat slugs, crickets, snails, mice, and even other snakes which may be poisonous if they are outside!

The common north American garden snake eats slugs, earthworms, leeches, lizards, amphibians, birds, and rodents but they do not eat insects.
