Souns like you have checked all the obvious things, howz about checking the ignition switch. could be bad contacts inside or maybe just worn out. Also check for good engine grounding to the chassis.

as netthief said, first make sure the battery terminals and posts are clean. but it sounds like the starter is going bad. the starter has a built in solenoid that . the starter has a thick wire that comes straight from the battery, and it has another thin wire that provides power to the starter as soon as you start the vehicle. what you need to do is to get a test light and tap into that small wire and have somebody crank it and see if it has power going to it while the starter is clicking. and if it has power when its clicking, that means the starter is bad.

Is the solenoid mounted somewhere besides the starter? Sounds to me that could be the problem. Ford and some other manufacturers put the solenoid on the fire wall or near the battery on the fender well. If not, new starter! Luck to you.

Does it have a starter solenoid on the side of the fender? That could be going out.
Does tapping the starter make it start quicker? If so, it's probably time to replace the starter.

Have you cleaned the battery posts and terminals with a post and terminal cleaner brush? If they're new terminals, the posts might still need it.
It could be the alternator, at least I would check the belt, maybe it's just not charging properly due to partial slippage?
And, did you have the battery load-tested?
