There are still some good hip-hop artists out there that talks about the real things that goes on in society but the others ones are just all about starting a beef with another rapper to boost album sells. Many kids look at these so-call-wanna-be's and think that if they do some of those things that these rappers are talking about in their music then they would be living the high life but they are not telling you in the songs that you could be killed or spend the rest of your life behind bars for doing something stupid.

I love some hip hop/rap, I can't turn away from an addicting beat! Although there is a negative impact of hip hop music and culture these days. For one, it labels African Americans making them look one-dimensional and giving them a bad name; ghetto, greedy, violent (esp men), men are pimps, women are hoes (nothing but props/objects), etc. Also, I know it sounds strange, but its impacting A LOT of suburban kids, it made its way from the inner cities, or "the ghetto" to small suburban towns because its highly commercialized, and most of it these days isn't really about the music, but more so the facade of a glamorized yet street lifestyle, drugs, violence and acting "hard."

I love hip hop/rap, I even did a project on "the negative impact of hip hop culture" for my speech class (the instructor didn't let me do just "hip hop" lol). Even though I don't like a lot of the images correlated with hip hop, it's still fun to listen to. It's all about the Bay Area rap!

I cannot stand it either. Why? Because it has no relevance to me demographically. I didn't grow up in the hood so I have nothing really to relate to. I don't like wearing baggy clothes hanging down to my ankles, underwear showing, wearing gold chains, doo rags, and having a negative outlook on life. I don't have a problem with people making music but there is a fine line between music and garbage. The black population should focus on getting rid of stereotypes whenever possible not promoting a gangster mentality. It definitely tries to degrade women in the videos. Also, keep in mind that music is popular because people buy it. If nobody bought it then its presence would be nonexistent in our mainstream media.

I hate this "hip hop" "music".

Black people should too, because they're keeping themselves down by allowing and idolizing this sort of garbage instead of encouraging people to be successful and advance in society.

well, in hip-hop, there is a lack of creativity. All they sing about is how much money they have, and a lot of bad things. They are brainwashing people.
