No way. All dogs were bread to do a job, hunting etc, greyhounds are bread to do a job, which makes a change from all the lap dogs now bred for pets. What should be banned is the breeding of dogs, when there is no intention of working that dog for what is was bread for.

Greyhounds are MADE TO RUN. Look at the dog. What do you think it is designed for? Now horse racing I'd be all for banning. Horses weren't designed to be raced. They run young. Look how much younger those horses tend to die. Also they are BEAT to get them to run harder in the race. The greyhound sees a rabbit and chases it. If it wants to stop or doesn't want to run hard nothing will prevent that. Now if you want to stop a dog race then stop the Idatarod(sorry can't of spelling) that is raced up in Alaska. That is doing NOTHING good for some of them dogs. Yeah they are another breed that is meant to run/race. The problem is that so many of them aren't taken care of well let alone during the race. I say make sure the dogs are well taken care of and then let them run/race.

The question should be re-phrased.............
Should at least 8,000 greyhounds every year be killed in the UK, once they have been retired at the average age of 3 years. Some lucky ones PTS, some not so lucky suffering horrific DIY attempts by their owners to dispose of them by the cheapest means possible. Such as drowning, starvation, nail guns, or just abandoned alive after their ears have been cut off to prevent indentification from their registration tattoos. The last time innocent animals were tattooed and killed and made to suffer in such numbers, it was called a Holocaust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and follow link to your country.
Then answer the question...............should greyhound racing be banned?

If we did, should not ALL sports be banned? Like horse racing.

Men being men enjoy the thrills of racing and I guess the participating animals do also.

Look at what happens to the welfare of the animals after their racing career is over is what is needed.

yes.
it's a wasteful sport.
not that i would call it a sport.
it's gambling plain & simply
making some men rich & ruining others.
gambling is wrong.
2 many dead greyhounds,
discarded & deemed past their prime, ending up in the landfill or worse, how can it b right?
as that hideous man who buried no end of murdered dogs on his land, has proved.
it's positively shameful!

Of course, if you will pardon the pun.
The incidence of 'fixing' have never been answered fully and for that alone, the people who bet on dogs are likely to be lucky rather that clever tipsters.

no, as the dogs are natural born runners, and all they do is chase around a rabbit on a motor. they run of there own accord, and they need to run if not they go mad.
