My computer had the same problem and I called in the chap who built it. What he did and made it look so simple was to take it back to factory settings. It will remove any files stored.
When you switch on, the screen is black and white with a row of words at the top of the screen and f11. Press f11 and it will take through a series of questions and ask you to press next next.
He made it look so easy and I have never had need to do it, so apologies for being vague.

Hi,
Sounds like you have real problems with your system so this is what to do, Backup all your files (burn to disk), put the Windows XP (hope you are using this OPS) in your drive, Switch your P.C OFF, wait a minute, Switch your computer back ON, your system will (should) now boot from the disk, then follow the on screen menus to reformat and install Windows again (clean install), if you get any problems please E-Mail me and I will try to help.

What is the specific problem? If the system is acting up, try running Anti Virus software. If CD's and Floppys don't work try cleaning your drives. If settings come up changed after reboot, run Anti Virus software.
