Everyone has their preference for a computer, dont worry, anything will work. One thing though, I hear more complaints about dell than any other computer out there, so be warned, and these are complaints by the owners!

Go to www.slickdeals.net/forums, click Hot Deals and look under the category "system". You sometimes get computers that are worth a lot more for really cheap. Currently, there are deals on Acers and Toshibas, all top of the line, for less than $600.

If you're looking for a used laptop, try craigslist in your area. That way you can inspect the laptop before buying it, unlike with ebay.

enable me preface via affirming that i'm a approved Dell and HP Reseller. I easily do not have any more something antagonistic to Macs in any respect. in truth, i'm quite stimulated via the present Macbooks. in case you opt for the Microsoft operating gadget, the Dell Vostro workstation has been my present day %. for most suitable fee for lowend laptops. in my opinion, you're comparing apples to oranges. they don't evaluate to one yet another as they both have diverse reward. My specialist opinion: Macbooks - reliable (outfitted on Unix platform), reliable courses, straight forward, extra rigid criteria, better video modifying skill, potential to run XP virtually (utilising software). Dell Vostro - Comes with XP or Vista, versatile with software, a great number of hardware concepts, a lot less intense priced. i guidance you communicate over along with your instructors first and ask what they're going to be utilising. finally, you'll hit upon a lot less themes in case you whichever platform they're utilising.

I use a Toshiba Satellite, and love it.. I've upgraded from 512mb to 1gb and it has wireless, 4 usb ports, ethernet, modem, dvd/cd-rw, express card slot, video out, and connection for a crt or flatpanel monitor.
