The new Internet Explorer 7 uses a lot more memory compared to version 6, so if you have a low amount of RAM on your system it may be locking up. If you have installed an addon to IE, it may be defective and is locking up the browser. If you have IE7 go to the Accessories section of the start menu, then System Tools and Internet Explorer (No Addons). Additionally you could install more RAM in your PC if that is the problem, close down other programs when web browsing or increase the priority of IE. Go into the Task manager (ctrl-alt-del), go to processes, right click iexplore.exe, then Set Priority and choose AboveNormal. That may fix your problem by telling the CPU to focus more on internet explorer than the other processes.

I had the same problem -- so frustrating I gave up and used google firefox for nearly a year until I downloaded IE7. It is possible that booting from the Windows CD in your drive by holding the appropriate key down on boot up will fix it. Windows will ask to rewrite the operating system or repair -- chose repair then let it run. If not then try a rewrite. If you hold down the control key on boot up you can change your advanced bios settings to boot from CD drive instead of the hard drive.

Use Firefox browser.

Its free and beats the tar out of IE7.

Try running the install file again to fix it.

But dude, please, unless you want loads of viruses and spyware, run firefox of opera.
