Hi im Zenna and i'd appreciate some help, No one else wants to know. It started last year when my boyfriend of 7 months broke up with me because he found someone else- someone thinner. From that point on, I exercised obsessively, and eventually decided to give up eating. Its easier now than it used to be, my body seems to have adjusted to having a lack of food.. Obviously i was heartbroken at the time of the break up and still feel really down about the whole situation. I havent eaten properly for a good year now, and sometimes if im forced to [such as dinner plans or birthdays] I go to the bathroom and get it out of my stomach. Im near;y 18 years old, and i weight just about 6 stone. I measure myself all the time, and im now becoming afraid- infact terrified- of putting on weight. My periods have become very light and i often feel dizzy. Im at the stage where i physically cannot eat, and im starting to see what damage it's doing... How do i eat? xx

Oh Zenna, I'm so sorry. I've been there and I know how lonely you must be feeling. These people are right, you need to get help very soon. The first steps are terrifying, I know. Tell your doctor or use the contact info on eating disorder sites. They can often help find resources in your area.

A few tricks I used in recovery....
I couldn't stand feeling full, so I ate small amounts of high calorie food like candy, chocolate, etc...

I kept myself occupied while eating. I'd drive, watch a movie, or talk on the phone (occasionally sobbing to my therapist) to try and distract my mind from the fact I was eating.

I also tried to use more calories in liquid. Juices, milk, yogurt-juice blends, or homemade fruit smoothies. It helped me get calories and yet I wasn't technically 'eating'.

When I first started eating foods, I ate babyfood. Didn't taste the greatest, but it was easier to digest which was great since my digestive tract had shut down into ultra-slo motion.

But please, please, please get help. If you let this continue, it will deprive you of your very identity. I struggled for over a decade, missed out on so many things, and lost so many friends and family members because this disease made me push people away. I don't want the same thing to happen to you.

Please feel free to email me if you need some further advice.

Hi Zenna,

I'm sorry to hear about your break-up and the turmoil that you have been dealing with. It's great that you want to help yourself. I don't know where you are and if you're in school (high school or college), but you should talk to a health professional. They may be able to help you get enrolled in a program to help you with your anorexia and occasional bulimia.

If you can message me (I accept email through here), I would be happy to find some more resources that may be able to help you depending on where you live.

Best of luck and take care of yourself!

I think that at this point you should go see a doctor. Throw away the scales and mirrors and try to get out and do things with your friends more frequently. The more time you have on your own to brood the worse it will become. If you don't work then go get a job. Being busy keeps the mind and body healthy.

first--you need to start out very slowly with eating--very small portions since you have shrunk your stomach. second-you do need to see a doctor regarding this--maybe get some bloodwork done--third--are you taking any vitamins? your body is probably depleted of essential vitamins--fourth--do you have someone that you can talk to about all this--a counselor of some type. I wish you well
