Some mispellings are so bad that spell check can't find a near match.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. I can't believe the sheer number of people who post questions with SO many words spelled SO badly. I have been stumped a number of times by questions that made absolutely no sense at all because of awful spelling and grammar.

Some people think they don't make spelling errors, so why waste time checking their work. Even if a spell check program can't find a near match, it will at least flag a word as being misspelled.
