Hi

I believe these cars have the electronically assisted steering which is engaged and disengaged at the touch of a button (the "girly button") and I believe this light is telling you that there is a fault with the steering electronics. There may be a sensor on the steering column somewhere which has failed.

It really is a job for the professionals so I would just be patient if I were you and allow them to fix it for you.\

Cheers

Geordie

HI-, The engine red light comes on when your cambelt brakes or an electric problem Iff it is your brakes at fualt a red light comes on in a sqare box or a round one with a black line through it . but i dont think its your braking systom, it could be iff you have let your fuel get low & you have filled up it could be you have an air lock in the deisol, iff you have any spanners get them out & get one that fits the injectors & undo the one nearest the radiator or the num 1 piston iff your not shore open each injector untill deisol comes out titen it up then do the same to the next then the next then the next untill you have done them all sometimes the car will start after doing the first one, good luck hope this has helped, D.F;

it's unlikly that the cambelt would break on a three year old car unless you've covered a very high mileage. check the engine oil. coolent. and brake fluid is there a wire broken off the pump? does fuel squirt from the injectors if you slacken the pipes whilst attempting to start it. can you smell diesel? drivers handbook will show legend of symbol is it brake failure?

Could it be something along the lines of power steering, and some new-fangled safety device that shuts down the engine when this fails or malfunctions?

Definitely check the power steering fluid and that belt, then you might check all of your fuses, fluids, belts, and hoses for integrity and what have you, sorry I can't think of much else to do but it's probably something stupid.

it is your engine management light it means there is a fault. if a garage can read it they can tell you what is wrong. sometimes there is a post on the internet on how to read the diagnostics. good luck.
i work for a renault dealership and i aked the mechanics;they said it means there is a fault but you need to get it read before you can find out what it is.
