It already seems that you've got plenty of animals in your household, but if you MUST get him a pet, I would get him a fish. Maybe a beta that will go in his own little bowl or tank, so it's actually all his. If he was any older I would suggest a small rodent pet, such as a mouse, hamster, gerbil, or guinea pig, but 3 years old is just a little too young for those. Get him a fish and let him name it, let him feed them and help with tank maintenance, and when he's a little older, talk about a different pet then.
I don't know where you live, but many cities have ordinances pertaining to the amount of animals allowed in one single household, so I would be careful as far as that's concerned. The fines for violating these ordinances are usually VERY high.

Oh goodness.....! You have a household full of pets already, why do you feel your 3yr. old son needs another animal? Unless your son is on a higher plane than most 3yr. olds, he is too young to take care of an animal in a responsible manner. Why not wait a few years until he is 6-7 to get him "something of his own". He should be far better equipped to handle a pet then. By the way, all animals bite if treated improperly.

I have to tell ya the best small animal I've ever had was a white rat. You can get them for about $5 from the pet store. I think the females make better pets and their cage doesn't get as smelly as much as the boys cages do. They can learn their names and with enough patience I'm sure they can learn more. I think a wire cage is a better home for them than an aquarium. And the best part of all is that you will be saving its life because they are usually sold for snake food.

Actually a small rat I know your saying "eeeeeeew" but rats from a petstore are very social clean animals with easy maintanace, they dont bite as frquently as a hamster or gerbil and bond with their owners, they also tend to be rather smart, and curious critters
OR second choice?? a ferret, ferrets are always fun, they are curious love to play, hide, and be around people. they do have a "Scent" to them but are litterbox trained like cats...a little more costly but way lovable!

Sounds like you have your hands full already. He's only 3, why dont you wait until he is older. That way, whatever you get him wont lose its newness after 5 minutes.

Would get him an animal play farm and when he's older he can decide which one he wants. Perhaps a bunny?

if u want to get him something easy to take care of and not to expensive, i would suggest a leopard gecko. they are very interesting creatures, little kids like them. all they require is a terrarium with fine grained sand, a heat lamp, and little cave/house to hide in ( myn likes to bath in a little saucer of water). they eat meal worms or crickets (the crickets are funner for little kids to watch their pet hunt for) you only have to feed them every week or two weeks (like a dozen crickets or so) i hope this helps u with your decision!!!!

Yeah, get him a stuffed animal. I think you have enough animals now and he is a little young to have his own animal.
