The tower, or case, or enclosure. Normally it is taken to mean the Case, Power Supply and internal framework all together.

Everything else fits inside it. The tower is definatley not the processor or hard drive. Isn't it amzing how daft some of the answers are?

There are sub-sets depending on whether it lies down or stands up.
If it's a flat thing that you sit your monitor on top of then it has a "desktop" form factor; if it's a tower shape then it's a "tower" form factor.

CD drives and the Hard Disc all are mounted in 'cages' that fit inside the case.
Apart from the power unit most other components ar mounted on the Mother Board, which itself is screwed to the Case.

The processor is one of the big integrated circuits on the 'mother board'. They're not often directly visible because of the heatsink devices fastened to them. You can usually recognise it by the big fan that is often glued to it.

The big tower thing is the processor, but there are different bits.

1) The Processor / CPU - This is the thing connected to the motherboard, which does all of the mathematical equasions and processing. It ain't that big.

2) The Heatsink, this is the Big tower that absorbs heat from the processor, otherwise the processor would break as it has to do so much.

You can also find liquid cooling units, fans, etc mounted on the processor/heatsink.
