Will it destroy your electric food steamer if you forgot to put water in the bottom and have it turned on to steam for 20 minutes?

it should survive it. it has happened to the best of us..water does run out although we 'd like to think it doesn't.x

I've only ever done that for two minutes and then I put cold water straight in to cool it. I wouldn't work for about 15 mins due to safety cut out so you might ahve on on yours.

Possibly, but it will have a high temperature cutout - like your kettle. Try it with water, if nothing, check instruction book, you may have to press a reset button somewhere.

Depends on wether it's got a thermo cut out or not mate , if it hasn't , it's time for a new one !!
It may also have a reset button !
