I am 38 weeks pregnant today and as i was shopping this morning i bent down to reach the bottom shelf then i had the urge to go to the toilet where i leaked out fluid,
I went home and caught some more of this fluid in a bowl, it was straw like in colour and didnt smell so I rang my midwife who told me to come in for a check up, to see if my membranes had ruptured, when I was there she did the paper strip test which didnt turn black so suggests it wasnt my waters breaking or leaking...
has anyone else had this and did they find out what it was?

I am the exact same as you, 38 weeks pregnant and I keep having this strange fluid leaking from me. They keep telling me its not my membranes. Im assuming it is exactly what everyone else is saying, and its just a bit of your bladder leaking. I know it sucks, but just think this will be all over in a few weeks for us, and we will have beautiful babies to love forever.

Labour is different for every woman, and pinpointing when it begins is not really possible. It's more of a process than a single event, when a number of physiological changes in your body work together to help deliver a baby. If you're truly in labour, one or more of the following five things will happen:
• Your cervix will become progressively thinner and softer (also called effacement) and dilated - up to 10 centimetres.
• Contractions occur at regular and increasingly shorter intervals and become longer and stronger in intensity.
• You may have persistent lower back pain, often accompanied by a crampy premenstrual feeling.
• You may notice the appearance of a bloody show (a brownish or blood-tinged mucus discharge). If you pass the mucus plug that blocks the cervix, labour could be imminent - or it could be several days away. Still, it's a sign that things are moving along.

My guess is that it was sudden pressure on your bladder and some urine just leaked. It's nothing to worry about it doesn't mean you will be incontinent.
There is a heck of a lot of pressure on your bladder at this stage of things and one false move from you or Junior and you might get a leak.
You've done the right thing to get a check up.
Be reassured and good luck for the big day

I know its not cool but its perhaps your bladder weakening under the strain of the baby, especially this late on in the pregnancy. Our muscles are put under a great deal of pressure and can slacken....its not uncommon for women to trickle urine if they laugh or sneeze and so its nothing to worry about if its that but its just a little embarrasing though, but very very common. Goodluck with the labour!!!

is your pelvic floor weak? maybe you leaked a little urine. i suggest you practice some pelvic floor exercises to tighten those muscles, it will also help after the birth if you begin now. as you are nearing the end of the pregnancy your pelvic floor will be under great pressure and its not unusual to leak a little urine. wear panty liners. good luck with the baby and congrats xxx

When you bent down it probably cause the baby to push harder on your bladder, causing leakage. If it was straw colored you are probably a bit dehydrated, you should drink a bit more water, dehydration can slow ther labor process (I've heard).

It WAS your waters, and now you have a ruptured membrane I would suggest you need to get to hospital, though a rupture can heal itself and cause no problems, if waters break it is best to deliver baby within 24hours because of the risk of infection. Ring your maternity ward and tell them.

Sometimes when you bend over your uterus pushes on your bladder and it leaks.
