I have lived through 5 wars and I don't think any nation can live without them. There will always be fighting it seems to be a part of our lives.
Sports have just become violent in the past 5 years. Too much compition in them now. Entertainment has always had violence in them, they sell good. Don't like sports or entertainment with violence then don't watch them..
As for the kids [they are taught through the parents] since parents don't have any control over the younger generation anymore there will always be no sharing, no love, no nothing in our children today.
My parents spanked me and I was a good kid growing up, grades up and lots of good clean fun and friends. I can truly say I was not a problem to my parents. I brought mine up the same way. I never spared the rod. They where bad they got whacked for it. They lost the right for TV,Stero,Games or grounding from anything that they loved the most. They respected me and their father. There was a lot of love and understanding in the family.
My three [2 girls - 1 boy] never got involved with smoking or drinking or drugs. Not even after they moved out. And when they got married they raised their kids the old fashion way..{Like Mom did}....
If parents would take a interest in what the children are doing and not be a part of the problem, things would change.
Genetic Makeup has a lot to do with it. Everyone learns from the parents. Bad up bringing will cause a lot of problems later on in life.
Everything can change if we are willing to do so. But the world is so f---- uped this will probably never happen.

Indeed, man is man's worst enemy. It is in the "holy" lay-out of nature that it should be so. When inbred nations and tribes and sects are not at armed war against each other, people in those nations simulate war in all possible ways. You may see examples of that in American movies where people shoot each other most of the time, or they just smash each other's faces.
Selfishness and violence are pre-programmed in all life so that the individual expressions of an essentially cannibalistic and exclusive life may try to individually survive and to distinctively develop.
Tolerance of others with oneself is just a strategy of survival in the way that I protect another and/or others so that they may protect me allowing me to moderately exist and to moderately develop in the company of them. In fact we are essentially each other's hostages, each other's robots.
Life is essentially cannibalistic on this Earth. When we do not directly devour each other we devour most other forms of life. When we don't try to exterminate each other we do it as a blunt strategy, just because we may contract some solidarity agreement for easier mutual survival because we deem that we are sort of useful, even of necessary, to each other's survival in a mutual corroboration and development.
Then some key-words about what we can do to alleviate the blunt ferociousness of our life might be: Mercy, Mutuality, Self-moderation, Solidarity, ...?
There may be some sort of transcendental meaning behind all this that we are not able to grasp nor fetch, Not yet. Maybe never in the present lay-out of life-forms. Good luck to you!

It has to be overcome by socialization, education and supplying basic resources (food, shelter etc.). But yes, I think it's built into the primitive part of our brain; it was necessary for survival millions of years ago. It'll never be completely overcome.

You know what they say- Peace is just the quiet planning period between wars....Yes, it is and always will be human nature But to quote George Carlin-
"Pacifism is a nice idea, but it can get ya killed. Remember folks, evolution is slow, small pox is FAST..."
