Why not download the new msn messenger live, version 8.1 and find out for yourself since everyone has a different opinion about what is good and whats not, now in my opinion it is worth upgrading so that you don't get left behind with technology advancing forward all the time, just like IE7 at first nobody liked it, some still don't, and then there's vista just out, what I think is nobody likes to change because they become settled in their ways, but then if we did not change we would all be stuck in the stone-age time warp with stone clubs and fur skins to wear.

It may well be worth it, as you get new feature like sharing folders, and so on. Most patches and plugins for MSN Messenger will work or they have updated versions for WLMessenger.

If all you do is instant message, any will do. But I suspect once you try the extra features you will really like them.

yes there are added features such as file sharing (enabeling you to share entire folders at once) transfers are so much quicker and there are many other features such as knew skins and themes really worth it if your into all that malarchy but if you simply want a messenger service stay with what youve got. hope that was helpful. =p
