hi dear,
many theories hve been put on this matter . the two most accepted are
itis colics and contraction of the uterus to repel the menestrual blood.and the other theory about increase substances like prostaglandins.anyway it is normal to experience some pain .if u need analgesics for that the best one will be NSAIDs like ibuprofen . u may add antispasmotics like hyoscine( buscopane) but the word of ur own doctor is the best at all.

Lots of things can cause menstrual pain. The most common is cramping which is the uterus contracting to push the blood out. There are a lot of over the counter medications that can help a lot. So can heating pads, mild exercise and pulling your knees up to your chest for a bit. If it is very painful, to the point where it is disrupting your life or you are just unwilling to tolerate it, go see a gynecologist and s/he can help you manage your pain better.
