Okay, I got this brand spankin new laptop that should have 80 gigs. But instead, the 80 gigs are divided into 40 gigs on two seperate hard drives. This shouldn't be a problem, except ALL of the files on my computer are on one of the hard drives. It says "40.0 gigabyte capacity, 15.0 gigabytes free" while my other hard drive has nothing on it and says "40.0 gigabyte capacity, 40.0 gigabytes free". What happens when the first hard drive runs out of room? That's 40 wasted gigabytes, because the other hard drive is useless.

this other drive is just a partition of the ONE hard drive in the machine....most companies do this now when you get a PC....with just 15GB left, sounds like you do some downloading...what i recommend doing is putting all of your downloads and media (videos, pics, mp3s) on the second partition (without the operating system) so that if your OS were to fail or not boot, you can reinstall to the 1st partition and not lose any of your media....

but if you want to merge them there are a lot of partition utilities available, including one in windows http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4780

No - once one hard drive is full you can easily switch over to the next hard drive partition , it is anything but useless.

i'm going to study in! If it does artwork and Rock and pa is divided up will in simple terms could choose to call this place Rock. i admire writing R&P. Oh, precise. in spite of it takes to get those toddlers to end spamming us with there Jonas Sisters and Britney Montana. There besides the undeniable fact that could be questions like that here from people who think of of the Jonas Sisters and that woman is Rock.
