Diwali in India is celebrated with jubilation and enthusiasm. It is one of the biggest festival of Hindus and is celebrated for five continuous days. Third day is the main day of Diwali and is celebrated as the 'Festival of Lights'. To mark this day people light diyas and candles all around their house. During the evening Lakshmi Puja is performed to seek divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. People also exchange Diwali Gifts with all their dear ones and burst fire crackers in the night to express their happiness.
Date of Diwali Festival is not fixed as it is reckoned according to the position of the moon. According to Hindu calendar, Diwali falls on the 15th day of the dark fortnight of the auspicious Hindu month of Kartik (October/November). It comes on the no moon day or Amavasya. This Diwali date is significant for Hindus as it was on this particular day that Lord Ram was crowned as the King of Ayodhya on his return to the kingdom with wife Sita and brother Laxman after 14 years of exile and slaying of demon King Ravana. People celebrate Diwali by lighting diyas to dissipate the darkness of amavasya and commemorate the crowning of Lord Ram.

there was a man called Naragasura in India a long ago ill treating the people. Lord Krishna killed him. So the people celebrated diwali making sweets snd sharing them with others.
And the history continued only a short time. And when there was an experiment about fire they invented crackers.
so the people started to celebrate diwali with colourful crackers.

Diwali is a Hindus Festival. It is also called Deepawali. Generally, its celebrated in India. Its one of my favorite festivals. Deepawali means Deepon ki mala. Deep means Diya. On this day you can see lightening everywhere. Everyone can enjoy this festival but children enjoy it the most. fro entertainment people burst bombs.
First all the family members pray 'Ganesha' and 'Goddess Laxmi' wearing new clothes. Then they go outside to burst crackers in cotton clothes. A week ago, preaparation for the festival is started, Houses are cleaned and decorated. Houses are decorated by almost everthing thing lights, show-pieces, candles, frills, etc. but diyas are must as the festival itself means 'Deepon ki mala'.
The main reason behind celebrating this festival was 'Rama' had returned to 'Ayadhya' on the same day. You can read the whole story of Rama in the holy book of Hndus 'Ramayana'. This festival's date depends on the 'Hindi calender' not on english calender. Diwali is celebraed on amavasya night.
Diwali is celebrated in many countries but the most colourful diwali is celebrated in India. You can enjoy this festival as much as hindus do. This festival brings prosperity in our life.
Good Luck

Hindu Festival of lights. It was the celebration for a day when one or both of their major prophets brought the world back to the light by overcoming evil or dark forces.
Hence they celebrate it with light. Fireworks are the major lighting source for them.
It's much like the Jewish CHunakah, which is about 1 days worth of oil lasting more days and so they celebrate this each year with candles light an extra one each day for the miracle of how only so much oil lasted so much longer.
