I have successfully detected my LH Surge using OPKs for the past 8 months but am still not pregnant. I have detected them around the 17th day which is when I expected. However, I have been reading on this site and a few people have said that if you get a "milky mucus" a few days after your period this is normal as this is the day you are ovulating. Is this correct? I have noticed a milky/creamy discharge a couple of times after my period. Does this mean that I am ovulating? And getting my timing for intercourse totally wrong. Advice would be great xx

this is a great website and I linked the FAQ's for ovulation predictor kits. It is possible to detect a LH surge and then NOT ovulate. I suggest you check out the link and like the PP said, charting your basal body temperature is a great way to detect ovulation and pregnancy. Good Luck.

The surge detection method is very reliable, I have a 16 year old daughter to prove it, so assume if your periods are regular then that is when you ovulate and just forget it and relax for a month or two. Try arranging a trip to your place in the costa blanca around that time and forget all about making babies. It's the perfect place to relax and the weather is absolutely sensational here at the moment. See what happens. If you still haven't conceived in 3 or 4 months see medical advice.

Good luck.

i strongly recommend charting you basal body temperature to confirm that you actually have the right day of ovulation and that it has occurred. BBT is the best way next to test run in a doctors office to confirm ovulation.

I didn't have luck with the LH test and cervical mucus is not always reliable b/c you might miss it.

no it doesn't mean you're ovulating it just is a sign of ovulation you can get pregnant 7-14 days after the first day of your last period try the yourdays ovulation calendar it charts it all out for you down to the sex of your baby, I've been using it for the past month and hopefully some time soon we'll be growing a pumpkin too.

I also used the fertility calculator on parenting.com
It's not 100% accurate, but it will give you an idea. As far as the cervical mucus, you want it to be clear and "egg white" looking. This is the best time to conceive. Good luck!
