A regular octagon is an octagon whose sides are all the same length and whose internal angles are all the same size.

The internal angle at each vertex of a regular octagon is 135°.

This won't get the sides to be all equal, but it will look close enough that it shouldn't matter; if it does matter, then ignore me!!! :-)

Draw a small square. Now, draw 4 other squares, each one using one side of the original square, to now have a shape resembling a "plus".

Next, connect the corners to make the "angled" sides of an octagon (I can't think of how to word it, but seems like it should make sense as to which sides are missing and need to be added.

with a pencil, draw a circle

inside the circle, with a pencil, draw a square whose four corners touch the circle, and with a pencil, draw a dot at the corners

on the circle, still with a pencil, draw a dot where the center of each side of the square would be.

WITH A PEN.......connect the dots....

erase the pencil
