It's called the Dead Sea because nothing lives in it. It is some of the saltiest water anywhere in the world, almost six times as salty as the ocean!

the dead sea is so salty that no life can live in it's waters.
Another interesting fact about the dead sea is that you can float on it without having to try. putting salt in water makes it more dense, so the more salt the higher the density. The dead sea has so much salt that humans, who are denser than regular water, float.

since the dead sea contains minerals aka salt that was so deadly if in contact to human skin, you will lead you to death if swam in without a scuba diving suit or consumed by intake of mouth.
