My husband's Uncle died 3days ago, what is the appropriate thing/s to give other than card and flowers... thanks

How about taking them a dish of food since they may not feel like cooking or making meals right now. This will help out alot. Also offer to help them with housework or something like that if need be. Giving them love and support at this time is very important as well.

Donate some money into a fund of what they died of or believed in when they were alive. For example, my mom died of breast cancer. We got little certificates saying people donated money for the American Cancer Society and Susan B. Comen breast cancer foundation, etc... But, if the uncle was really into animals, you could donate to the humane society. I would ask the family members to see what they think . Oh yeah, food is always nice too. We got lots of that. We just were too sad to think about food and it was nice that others did for us for a few days.

If you would like to contribute money to any sort of memorial fund, that would be appreciated I'm sure. Beyond cards & flowers, talk with whoever is organizing the funeral and offer your assistance. That would go a long ways too.

Your time. See if there is anything that somebody needs you to do. Time is the most precious gift we can give someone. Sorry for your husband's loss.

I always have a live plant sent,it's something that they can keep later on.Most flowers are trashed because they die.

maybe a cash donation to the widow or groceries to help out.
