We have been informed that a mask with 4 dishes will be built 70feet high. We have read about the dangers of radiation and the stories you read and hear about only contradict each other. Does anyone have any information or site I can visit for information.

Hello,

(ANS) The problem you are going to have fighting the installation of such a mobile phone mast is that the scientific data is at this point in time is unclear either way.

There are definately two camp's or schools of thought on mobile phones and mobile phone masts. Two contrasting scientific strands of thought as far as I can see.

**Those for school:-
Obviously the mobile telecoms companies, the mobile phone industry as a whole. Who will be quick to try & rubbish any potential health risks for mobile phone use & mobile phone masts. Why? because there is such alot of money & jobs riding upon such masts.

**Those against school:-
People like yourselves, parents who have children and anyone who might end up living in close proxcimity to the masts. Mobile phone masts do transmitt & receive in the short radio frequencies such as microwaves. A number of studies have been carried out on the health effects of prolonged exposure to such radio waves.

No! sorry I dont know of sites you could look at, I think thats part of the problem, getting hold of copies of the rsearch papers is difficult. I'm not even sure such research papers are being made available to the public. Precisely because its such a contenious subject still.

Best Regards IR

If you have your mind made up then don't bother to look for more info. However every study that was done shows that the levels of energy from the antennas on those masts is not a problem. That has never stopped people whose real problem is with the scenery-spoiling appearance of a tower in their neighborhood from raising a scare campaign against the use of the tower. They usually quote from the anti-technology groups who see any use of engineering as anti-human and there is an unlimited supply of those quotes.

Around here one of the last farm-owners who was looking to be able to keep his farm going without having to sell his land to developers contracted with the phone company who wanted to build a tower in this fields. He was immediately stomped on by his neighbors who thought it would ruin the rural appearance of his farm. When that didn't work they switched to the radiation danger appeal and finally wrapped him into so many legal problems that he quit on that project.

The radiation from a mast decreases in accordance with the inverse square law. Which means the radiation from your phone, which is against your head, is far greater than that reaching you from the mast. In fact, when you're near the mast, your phone gives out less radiation because the signal doesn't need to be as strong.

Mircowaves don't ionize atoms like UV, x-rays, and gamma rays do. Cell phone signals are completely harmless. They are really short wave radio signals. If you're worried about cell phone dishes, you should throw out your TV, lightbulbs, microwave, stove, and pretty much anything that gives off heat or light because the EM radiation those things give off is more energetic.

Firstly, it's been recently proven that there isn't harmful radiation. Secondly, if you complain about masts but then use a mobile phone, you're like the people who complain about new runways but then fly to Spain in the summer.

Maybe you should trust the opinions of people who know what they're talking about, and they say there is no danger.
There has not been one credible case of people getting sick or dying from cell antennas.
