In the form of an undead creature that can shapeshift, turn others into vampires, etc? No. I'm sure the myth was based on a combination of natural phenomena that was not understood at the time and the strange behavior of vampiric tyrants such as Elizabeth Bathory and Vlad Tepes. Some basis in fact, but blown completely out of proportion.
If you mean in the form of people who consume blood and kill in the process? Yes, absolutely. Sacramento California had no less than three 'vampire killers', the most notorious of which was Richard Trenton Chase. When he was caught, he was living only two blocks away from my house. I had seen him on the streets numerous times. A little freaky, no?

YES, vampires really exist. They are not, however, like their mythological counterparts.
Real vampires are humans who are just unable to make enough energy for themselves, so they have to feed off of the energy of others. This can either be done psychically or through drinking blood. They can't change shape or command creatures or turn others into vampires any more than you are I can. They also don't burst into flame or turn into ash when they step out into the sun, but they are more sensitive to it.
No one knows why vampires exist, and we'll probably never know. It's just one of those mysteries of nature.

No, vampires do not exist but the tale has much truth behind it. One of my favorite roots to the story and legend that is "vampires" is that of Countess Elizabeth Bathory who bathed in the blood of virgins. She is considered the most famous serial killer in Hungarian and Slovak history.
The emergence the vampire myth coincided with Bathory and haunted Europe in the early 18th century. These suspicions of walking undead reached even the educated and scientific circles.
The first connections were made to promote works of fiction by linking them to the already successful Dracula story.

Do the math - if a vampire had to eat someone each day for a meal and that person had to eat one. The human race would be nonexistent in less then a month.

Vampires (sometimes vampyres) are mythological or folkloric creatures believed to be the re-animated corpses of human beings who subsist on human or animal blood. In folklore, the term usually refers to the blood-drinking humans of Eastern European legends, but it is often extended to cover similar legendary creatures from other regions and cultures. The characteristics of vampires vary widely between these different traditions. Some cultures also have stories of non-human vampires, including real animals such as bats, dogs, spiders, and mythical creatures such as the chupacabra.
As stated in the definition above they are mythological creatures so they are imaginary . But there may exist in the future because of genetic mutations .

yeah, i heard that if a vampire bit one person a month, and they also became vampires, and bit on person a month, then all humans would turn into vampires in about three years. that may be a little off, but just think about it
